First Annual LA COOKIE CON is a SWEET SUCCESS!
Drawing your favorite celebrity chefs and authors from Food Network, Masterchef, TLC, YouTube and participants from all over the United States, the best of the best gathered in Pasadena, CA for the first annual LA Cookie Con.
The event was held at the Pasadena Convention Center, which is 80,000 sq. ft., with over 3,000 tickets sold making this a sold out event. Bright and early at the 9:45am ribbon cutting the line was beyond expectation, wrapping around the block.
Blueberry pie has been on my mind. I’m a party of one so the idea of hand pies appeal to me, they can be eaten alone and shared. I found the regular sized blueberries were more flavorful than the wild blueberries. I like using frozen but fresh is great too. Last week I found bags of frozen blueberries and Immulate Baking pie crusts on special so I devised this recipe. Sometimes I add a little fresh Microplaned lemon rind in with the sugar as I did with this batch. Super yummy!
This week its berries galore! I look for the small organic kind that are really juicy. Pizza on Venice http://www.pizzaofvenice.com/ is a nice new addition, they have yummy tangerine agua fresca… out of this world! And, they know hospitality. I also pick up raw milk on the regular here from Organic Pastures http://www.organicpastures.com/shop.html and honey from Bill’s Bees http://www.localharvest.org/bills-bees-M3411.
Eating local rules. Shelly xoxo
